Today I caught 7 yellow jackets, two of which died in the empty upper chamber of the trap and upon emptying, I accidentally lost! My little jar, though still not quite fully covered on the bottom is fast approaching that! The problem with the Jelly trap, and the only one I see, is that the yellow jackets still have something to feed on, thus they live overnight. I have to drown them in water in order to kill them, or else they would still be going for days! I have decided to try something a little different, instead of just sticking the jelly in the trap I put a small amount of jelly on aluminum foil and wrapped it up, I'm hoping the foil doesn't smother the smell of the jelly, but at the same time, keeps it from the yellow jackets. We shall see! I'm fairly happy with the results I've been getting despite the cold weather!
Sorry this post ended up being in the morning, lots going on!
