One With Them

"One With Them is an Open Doors USA initiative to spread the story of the persecuted with the American church and beyond.
One With Them serves as a call to action to unite with persecuted believers, not just on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP), but during the months leading up to, and after, that special day. Through prayer and advocacy, Christians in the United States are urged to join millions who share our faith but not our freedom.
One way Christians in the United States can show their support for the persecuted is through One With Them wristbands. Wearing the black, rubber wristband that looks like barbed wire is a great conversation starter. The wristbands provide an opportunity to explain to others about the plight of persecuted believers.
With One With Them, we seek to bridge the gap between American Christians and those Christians who suffer for their faith."

I'm not wild about the looks of the wristband that ODM (Open Doors Ministry) came up with however I want to show my support for persecuted Christians. I love ODM because of their founder Brother Andrew. I read his biography and of course loved it. I also plan on joining millions in prayer on the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church. (November 13) Why shouldn't I? I'd love to be a volunteer going into hostile countries and helping the churches there, but I'm not able to at this time so I will help however I can. The bracelets were free for two of them. So why not get a wristband and show support?  Like I said I don't care for the looks of it very much, I find it kind of worldly looking but the idea is true. ODM's logo is a fish with barbed wire, standing for the persecuted church. Appropriate in all aspects, the fish for Christians, the barbed wire, for persecution. Many indeed are behind barbed wire and some in even worse. I have to ask myself sometimes, "Would I really do that for Christ? Could I stand in the face of persecution and say yes?" I pray I could and if I ever have to I pray God gives me strength to say Yes, and boldly.
ODM has plenty of resources for the One With Them program, including downloads of videos and such. But you can help ODM help persecuted Christians in other ways, such as being a pen pal, giving a donation, or even volunteering to go to hostile countries and help our brothers and sisters. I was very interested in being a pen pal since I love to correspond with people and I love to write and encourage people. They even have a list of people that need pen pals, which I found was really cool. Most are widows whose husbands have been Martyred.
